An Engaging Story
Some people say I procrastinate. Those people are correct.
That was certainly the case on August 13, 2006. I was getting dressed and ready to pick Kristin up from work. We were going over to St. Augustine to hang out for the evening and I was also going to ask her to marry me. The problem was I needed to leave in fifteen minutes and I hadn’t asked her dad yet.
When I got out of the shower I realized that he and I were the only ones in the house. With wet hair and a towel around my neck I went into the living room and launched into the big questions by saying, “I have something I want to talk to you about”. Kristin’s dad came right out and said, “Don’t be nervous”. It was too late but nice of him to say anyway. I asked him if I could marry Kristin. He said yes.
Earlier in the day Kristin and I had eaten lunch together. I noticed that her nails were looking less than perfect and knew that she would be a little disappointed to put a beautiful ring on a non-manicured hand. So I took her to get a quick manicure and then dropped her back off at work.
When Kristin and I started dating in Russia she had purchased this fantastic snowman nesting doll. Unfortunately, she left it in a McDonalds on the way home. What she didn’t know was that my dad had purchased the same exact one to give to my mom. She was nice enough to give it to me so that I could modify and use it to propose to Kristin.
Kristin and I went out to eat and then went for a walk on the beach. I told her I had a gift for her and presented her with the snowman doll. She was so excited. She opened it several times, each time revealing a smaller snowman. She finally reached the last doll and when she opened it I got down on my knee and asked if she would marry me.
She said yes.
